found a childbirth class

Well, I finally found a one-day, 8 hour childbirth class that's do-able for Jon and me. It's a BIRTHING FROM WITHIN class taught at the freestanding birth center in MADISONVILLE, TN.

I don't think I'm gonna be that into the belly-casting and "birth-art" element of this class, but I like the idea of learning how to face and get past my fears, rather than just learning coping techniques for dealing with the pain.

um, why does someone who has had three kids need a childbirth class? I totally skipped it for my second and did better without all the gunk going into my brain.

Yay!! I've heard nothing but good stuff about Birthing from Within. Let us know how it goes.

Anonymous,

It's been 8 years since Katie had a baby. You can forget a lot in 8 years! And I don't think she's ever had exactly the birth she wanted--maybe this will help her to achieve that. Also, remember, Jon's never had a baby!

I've had five babies and taken three classes. If I have another one I will probably try to talk my husband into going again.

I had three medicated births, and the last one was in 1998. So it's been a while. I have a lot of fear about my last birth - epidural gone wrong and baby who ended up in NICU for 3 weeks.

This time, even if I decide on medication, I want a peaceful labor in the water and a birth where I feel like I am making decisions and not a passive observer. I would like to avoid medication if possible. And it's all new to Jon, because this is his first baby. So we think a class will be good.
