Did she have a brain tumor? What happened? I scrolled and scrolled and scanned and scanned but could not locate the cause of her illness.

So many prayers going out to this family- I hope they feel all the care and concern. And find peace in their memories soon.

I don't think anybody knows what was wrong with her. It wasn't a brain tumor. They thought it was the flu, then they thought it was some kind of infection. Ultimately, a 29-year-old woman just died of a stroke and nobody knows why. And a month ago, no one could've seen it coming.

It's horrible beyond words.

The spirit of the man writing the blogs is so amazing, I am crying. I never heard of this blog until just now. This is so incredibly sad, yet the writer's spirit is so beautiful.

There was some speculations that the massive infection might have arisen from a tooth abscess she had a few weeks ago. Unbelievable that someone so young could go from healthy to dead so quickly.

I want to do something for them. Just words doesn't feel like enough. I can see why they don't want to post a real name or an address. Jon, do you know them IRL?

You know, I've been sitting here shaking my head for over an hour. Reading Jake's blog has made me feel in awe of that kind of love and devotion.
I can't believe this has turned out like this.

There's a link in the comment section of the page to the family's snail mail address.

Jon, do you know them IRL?

I've known them for about a year through our blogs. We started at the same time on the same server, etc. I've emailed with them and have meant several times to go see them in person but every time something came up.

It kills me that I didn't go see them the last time I meant to - about a month ago.

And as for the tooth, I think they decided that probably wasn't it. They also considered a kidney infection. But I don't think they really know what it was.

Incidentally, BJ's real name was Barbara Jamie Bearden Kilpatrick.

I know he must be having to make some tough decisions today - about organ donation and how that will be handled.

Maybe at least in the wake of this family's terrible loss, some other families around the country are going to get some amazingly hopeful news today.

My emotions are completely tangled. How can I become so attached to someone I never met? How can this man's love for his wife move me to tears? His spirit and longing for BJ to come back to him are too much to bare. What a beautiful tribute to this incredible woman. Is there anything we can do for the family?

Oh, that is so horrible.

Just...horrible.

I asked specifically about a brain tumor because I almost lost my Ken to one in June 1997. I was lucky. He was lucky. We dodged a bullet, both because the fates were smiling upon us and we had one of the best neurosurgeons in the world work on Ken's brain.

And selfishly, I was hyperventilating at the "what could have been" aspect of the blog. Selfish and terrible, but man, having just experienced the possibility of losing your spouse, especially as a young person yourself (we were both 26), I can conceptualize what this poor man is thinking and feeling. And it's like a kick in the guts that brings tears to your eyes.

I guess it's stuff like this...it just wears on the soul, you know? Why are the good ones always taken, and why are they always taken so young?

It would be so great if some of you who know about book publishing could help him (when he is up to it) in getting all of this published into a book. Not for the celebrity, but because he is now a single father of two boys and could use the cabbage. Many times over the last few days and weeks of reading I have said to myself, "Is this for real?" I mean, it reads like the most beautiful love story. From what I can tell, Jake is hardly a "romance writer" kind of guy. Just publishing the blog entries as they are would make an amazing book.
