Monday

I just tried to call my son Henry on his cell phone, only to discover that his new "I can't take your call right now" message consists of me and his two younger siblings singing "Hospital Bed" by Ben Kweller at the top of our lungs, very off key.

Now I know why Henry kept suggesting we all belt that song out over and over in the car the other day ;-)

just out of curiosity... when did your son get his first cell phone and why do you think it is necessary for him to have one (ie, does he walk around the city by himself, stay at home alone, etc)?
my mom friends group in our local park have this ongoing discussion on whether and when is necessary for a kid to own a cell phone...
When I was a kid (b.1969) I'd travel the whole city (population 800,000) to get to school, see friends, go to the pool, gym, cinema, etc, from 10 yo onwards alone or with my brothers (2 and 5 years younger than me) or with similar age friends and all we had to do was obey by our mom's curfew... Kids nowadays seem too monitored, but I don't know, my kids are still only 5, 3 and 5 months old...

anyway, thanks!
