This new trend toward superwhitr=e teeth should be a good thing. After all, white teeth look nicer than not-so-white teeth. But increasingly, I see people whose teeth are just....freaky white. Too white. Eerily white. And people's teeth are all starting to look exactly alike. Just like people. Women look more and more like one another in the U.S., don't you think?

I actually want my teeth to be that freaky kind of white. I keep using that Listerine wash after I have coffee - nuthin'. Oh well..and while we're at it? I also want little tiny pieces of food to stay the heck out of that microscopic fissure b/t my 2 front teeth - that would be nice - then maybe I wouldn't be so self conscious when I'm eating with people I hardly know.

I'm afraid that those whitening strips, treatments, etc are going to end up being bad for your teeth. My dentist told me they really don't know what the long-term effect on your tooth enamel is. My teeth are not-so-white but I would rather not take a chance on treatments that we don't have long-term studies on.
I too have one tooth that's a bit ajar and stuff gets caught in it at meals, so I sympathize.
I agree-I wonder about what all this stuff does long term. It's not a bad thing to want a whiter smile or nicer teeth, a different hair color,less wrinkles,bigger boobs, smaller thighs, etc. But today we fix so many of these things. Sometimes people end up looking very different from how they started. It seems kind of a shame to me. Did you ever think about how much of our lives we waste thinking about things. The things we do to work towards physical perfection waste a lot of time and effort. I have my own problems with this stuff, I'm just saying it's a shame we as a society are so obsessed with it.

Well, OK, but having everyone's teeth look good is preferable to some people having yellowed stumps, right? :-)
