don't you hate it when...

...you wear cute, new shoes for the first time and realize they are so damnably uncomfortable that they are pretty much never going to be worn again?

Are these the same shoes that Jane thinks should be corked?

Sadly, yes they are ;-)

Wedgies are uncomfortable by definition! No shoe that threatens to break my ankles is ever going on my feet!
It's a female phenomenon because women keep buying stupid shoes. Don't buy shoes with heels! They are so bad for you! If we all quit buying them they would quit stocking the stores with them.
I have gone 20 years now without heels and have managed to keep my feet covered with appropriate footwear for the occasion. there is no need for this torture to continue, ladies. It's a feminist issue...

To the formidable feminist icon who has so proven her superioriy over Katie and other wearers of cute shoes by donning sensible footwear for 20 years, may I suggest that feminists would not get stereotyped as dour and reactionary if you reserved criticism for infractions more damning than the wearing of cork wedgies?
Here's a short list of feminist issues: wage inequity, passage of an equal rights amendement, domestic violence, daycare, the freaking WAR that is going on in Iraq. Hell, just about anything can be viewed as a feminist issue. What kinds of shoes Katie or anybody else opts to wear is nobody's business but their own.
I am a feminist myself and have even published a paper or two. At one academic conference, I wore HIGH HEELS!!!
Insanity!!!!

You can say THAT again!

But wedges, which is what I was wearing on my feet today, are not necessarily uncomfortable.

I'm the queen of clogs and flip-flops. Fashionable, no. Comfortable, yes. And we won't even talk about my comfy but not fashionable undies ;)

I'll criticize anything I want to, and I think clothing is an important feminist issue. Don't you realize that stupid shoes are part of the whole problem? but go on ahead, keep wearing them and keep yourself in bondage and call me dour. Fine by me.
