Thursday

do not order from FTD

The saga of the roses continues...

The Valentine's Day roses finally arrived at my mom's office...on February 15th.

And THIS is what they look like!!!

roses

Note the dry, brown, curling leaves, the sparse number of roses, and the ugly blooms. Remember, this was a $70 flower order!

So now I have been trying to get someone on the phone at FTD customer service all day. I have either been left on hold for up to 30 minutes or given a recorded message sayng that due to the "large number of holiday calls," FTD recommends that I "call back another time." Then the line goes dead.

I am seriously irritated.

Perhaps it's due to the toxic chemicals the roses are dipped in prior to shipping from Columbia...

I had problems with FTD this year too -- they sent me a note on Monday saying they wouldn't be able to make my delivery on time. So I cancel my order & place an order with another company. Then I get a note from them saying they have to 'research' whether or not they will allow me to cancel the order, they will let me know in 48 hours. So here it is Thursday and I still don't know if they'll "let" me cancel the order (that they couldn't fulfill).

Follow up messages to them have just gotten me the same form letter responses in return. The pre-auth on my credit card finally expired, so hopefully that's a good sign...

Call your credit card company and have them cancel payment.

I use AmEx for ordering such things. They guarantee your purchases so you can call them and they will make your problem theirs. And I don't work for AmEx.

I'm "mama" who got the roses and I'm so moved that my children sent them. But, people have been traipsing into my office all afternoon to look at these FTD roses. Most simply say, "Oh my GOD" and vow they will never use the service. The Tennessee attorney general sent out a news release earlier in the week warning consumers not to use such services, but to deal with local florists directly. These roses are much worse than the photo shows. But - no cliche intended - the thought was all that mattered to me.

I've been on hold with FTD for the last hour to complain about the same damn thing.

FTD's customer service (or complete LACK THEREOF) should be enough to convince most consumers to order elsewhere next year.

I've learned my lesson. I'll always use a local florist from now on.

I married into a florist/landscaping family, so I know better now.

Do file a complaint with the Consumer Affairs Office in your state.

Doesn't the order go to a local shop when you order from the FTD website? Or am I confused...

They do. My sister's flowers showed at her work yesterday from a local florist on Broadway. While the roses themselves were gorgeous, they were just shoved into a vase with baby's breath and greenery....No arrangement whatsoever. Not only will I never use FTD, I'll never use that local florist either. I told my b-i-l, from now on he should order from the Kroger's next door to her work. At least he knows they'd get there!

I have used both proflowers.com and 1800flowers.com multiple times with no problems. Just thought I'd throw it out there. Sorry for your flower troubles.

Day two and the small brownish-pink rose buds are nearly dead. They arrived in a box without water, of course, and seem to have been shipped from California to Tennessee.

i had a similar experience. ordered roses for the girlfriend. they arrived on time, but were brown/wilting, and smelled like fish. they were shipped from Denver. i've filed a complaint on their website, and pending a response. with this kind of service, i feel like FTD gave me an STD.

Sounds like a vasectomy problem to me...

My husband is very close friends with and a former colleague of the man who started Proflowers.com.

They will always take care of you and treat you right.

They also have the best prices, particularly on tulips when they come into season. Since purple tulips are my favorite flowers, this is a good thing.

Sorry to see that you had such problems. Jerks. I blame the lack of Merlin Olsen.
