adolescence

Jane is entering 6th grade in the fall (even though she's only 10 - really, she should be older - she will turn 11 the week school starts) and she is definitely starting to ease from childhood into adolescence.

One of the surest signs is her great love of the telephone. And since we are an all-cellular family these days, she has her own, pink cell phone, permanently attached to her body.

She is a lover of the text message. Oh how she loves texting! So I need to show her THIS ARTICLE about one little girl's text messaging injury - stress and strain to the hand and fingers from pressing the buttons too often...

My daughter went into 6th grade as a 10 year old, her birthday is the end of September. She also entered high school as a 13-year old, scary. But she has a wonderful sense of who she is, self-confidence, and amazing friends. Jane will be fine: there may be some developmental differences off an on, but generally she will be great!

you do know that relying on cell only particularly for young growing teens and pre teens has been linked to brain tumors. its not a huge number but still...the numbers ARE there. experts advise against minimizing kids cell usage to neccessary calls. my daughter has a cell but she is only to use it for keeping in touch, not for long phone marathons. but then I doubt you care about THOSE odds. they dont have anything to do with breastfeeding or "attachment parenting"
