halfway

I just realized I am basically halfway through my pregnancy now.

We are utterly unprepared for a baby. We have done nothing to get ready. You would never know from looking around our house that are expecting a baby...except maybe from the dog-eared pregnancy book lying by the bath tub.

I've started A LIST OF STUFF I figure we'll need from my beloved SuperTarget.

Aside from the crib set up in my room, there wasn't any sign in my house that I was having a baby, either time.

What kinds of signs do you think there ought to be?

And its still early for a crib. I think that its such an exciting time that one expects there to be more signs. I put the ultrasound pics on the fridge. And the dog eared book is laying aroung... And thats about it too. But I know what you mean.

Stick lists of names on the fridge so everyone thinks about them frequently. Stockpile popsicles to get through the last month.

I have a co-sleeper you can have if you want it. I also have that exact swing (Evan LOVED it), but the motor is burnt out. If you want to try replacing the motor, you can have it.

Is that you asking people to buy you things off of your registry?

I dunno about those baby sitter things. They seem to be very popular, but they seem kind of mean to me.

one more reason to get contractors to do your remodelling. Enjoy your pregnancy adn baby preparation. Leave the remodelling to professionals.

Uh, no.

It's a list, for moi ;-)

No one should expect anyone to buy them anything when they are having their 4th child, as I am.

My friend just bought a crib and took off one of the sides instead of buying the co-sleeper. I wish I would have done that instead as the co-sleeper is so small...and the baby ended up in my bed most of the time anyway....

I wouldn't get that Nojo sling if I were you. Maya wraps are beter and so much prettier. And you can find a lot of those things second hand, unless money is no object for you; I got my Baby Bjorn for $5 at the Bag-a-Bargain sale.

The purchase I stressed over before Lorelei was born was something to keep her clothes in. She sleeps with us, her toys are in the den, and her clothes are in William's room! The only "baby gadget" we got was a new bouncy seat. All I could find was an electronic noisemaking vibrating one, but I never put batteries in. We are pretty minimalist on baby gear here.

Don't bet that you won't get any presents! It's been a long time since you had a baby and your newer friends especially will probably give you things.

Have you used a nojo baby sling before? I got one with my son and I hated it! Now that I've tried a variety of slings and carriers I would never get a nojo or bjorn for that matter. The Bjorn because of the pressure it puts on the baby's spine.

I wanted to add that too, babywearing has come a long way since your youngest was born. Look at Thebabywearer.com for ideas. I had my first 7 years ago & with my new baby I went crazy for babywearing. They have beuatiful & very handy german wraps, mei tai's, way easier & more comfy slings than ever & the king of all easy carriers, the ergo baby carrier. Have fun!

PS They have a NINO (babywearing) meeting in Knoxville each month you can find more info at www.thebabywearer.com and can try out lots of carriers before you decide!
