MSNBC: sadaam hussein to be executed within the hour

The idea of executing someone by hanging - anyone- makes me sick. Human beings should not behave this way, no matter how evil the person in question may be.

Revenge gets you nowhere. It solves nothing and prevents nothing. It doesn't make up for any previous losses. True, thoughtful, government-led justice shouldn't involve violent revenge.

SH should be locked up for the rest of his life. Hanging is barbaric.

mmm hmmm...and you are assuming the motive is revenge? were you willing to step up to the plate and pay for Sadaams room and board for however long he should live?

I agree. Saddam was a horrible person, but the images of masked men placing a noose around his neck are really disturbing. Likewise people gathering around their tvs like it was the Superbowl or partying in the streets. Way too barbaric for my tastes.

I asked my 5-year-old what he thought of the death penalty. He said, "They should just put people in jail." I asked him why and he said, "Because they are God's people." This came out of his own little head.

I agree with you, Katie.

And Leslie, you have one wise little boy.

It IS a terrible way to go,but then of course if my family member were raped or murdered by him I'm not so sure that I would be so forgiving. What about a nice lethal injection?Live by the sword-die by the sword...

Don't be too easy on Sadaam .He would have killed you and all your families,(even Leslies little 5 yr old)just for practice.Think of trying to breath and all you were getting was Sadaam's poison gas.Men ,women, children,he didn't give a damn . This was muslim against muslim . Imagine what he might have cooked up for a methodist, catholic,or baptist ?The dirtbag wasn't worth sour milk and rotten meat. They should have dropped a grenade down the rat hole they found him in.

aaah....the liberal mind. all full of lovely little platitudes. Yes, God is merciful but He is ALSO Holy and will ultimately judge us all

you know, I was talking to my husband about this and how some people had said to "just lock him up". My husband stated that as long as Saddam was alive, he would be a potential threat. Good point.

You'd think that a person who is so filled with admonitions for all of us "libruls" would be man enough to sign his own name.

The world is a much better place without Hussein, of course. And I feel many different ways about the death penalty, for a number of reasons. What I want to know is, when will George W. Bush be arrested and tried for the murders of 650,000 Iraqis and 3000 American soldiers?

Laura,
Two "quickie points " and I will vacate and let the more knowlegeable solve the world's problems.
1.Why don't the anonymous sign their names? In my case it was easier to press "anonymous"than it was to play computer games with Google/blogger and who knows what "other "stands for ?
2. When will Geo Bush get his ? If you crack a history book every so often ,or better yet LIVE A LITTLE OF IT, you will see that Losers get the rope and winners get a parade.

I love it when I get philosophical.

"Losers get the rope"

And silly me, here I thought that all they got was Internet access in their trailer parks.

Sorry, won't make that mistake again, genius.
