I don't want to sell anything, buy anything, or process anything as a career. I don't want to sell anything bought or processed, or buy anything sold or processed, or process anything sold, bought, or processed, or repair anything sold, bought, or processed. You know, as a career, I don't want to do that.

I'm a teacher, and I would never, EVER even DREAM of saying something like that to my students! I even discourage kids from saying it too loudly to each other, just because... meh. It just ruins their fun.
I can't believe a teacher did this. How callous.
I don't remember ever believing in Santa. My mother told me that I asked her when I was 3 and she didn't want to lie to me, so she told me the truth. It didn't traumatize me, but I'm certainly not doing it to my kids. I feel like I missed out sometimes.
I bet the teacher was a militant feminist.
I can't believe that kids 9 and 10 still believe in Santa. Anywhere!
I am from the UK and I agree that the teacher shouldn't have said anything but I am surprised that so many 9 and 10 year olds still believe in Father Christmas.
MY children believe in Santa BECAUSE HE'S REAL!!!
And I believe in him, too.
I'm a little surprised, too, that all the 9-10 year olds hadn't had their illusions shattered already. I know that when I was seven I was in a small minority of Santa-believers in my class. Now my own kids definitely still believed at that age, but I always thought they were unusual.
My parents raised me to believe that he's real too. . . not always "guy in red suit who lives at the North Pole," but the spirit of Santa that manifests itself in people. We're all Santa, then.
So I still believe too.
