I am trying and trying to finish this book. It's beautiful writing but I just can't seem to get engaged with the characters. It's been a long time since I couldn't finish a novel. Actually, the last one I didn't finish was a Garrison Keillor novel.

I only tried one Garrison Keillor novel ever, and I couldn't come close to engaging.
You couldn't finish G. Keillor's book for a good reason--because it stunk.
heh.
It was just wholly uninteresting.
As for Jim Harrison, I tend to think he's more of a "guy's" novelist.
