the rise of 'lad culture'

I found THIS ARTICLE rather interesting.

As a single person dating mostly thirty-something age guys, I believe
there is a trend in which men who are 35 or 38 or whatever act more
like 22 or 24 year olds did 20 years ago...

I blame it all on Maxim ;-)

I agree. It's hard to find a man under 45 who is remotely interested in "settling down" and getting married and having babies, and women who want this are seen as boring.

It's hard to be a girl these days.

Huh? Oh, maybe you mean men *over 35ish* but under 45..?

she took the words right out of my mouth. as i say, the transition from boyhood to manhood is hard--and many of them just don't make it.

Well...one must consider how men are treated by modern woman as well here ladies. I have always prefered to be "settled down" with one woman, but they can castrate and hobble a man in court if their modern fickle heart takes a turn. The issue has two sides when we talk immaturity. The whole of our culture seems to be too selfish to ever make marriage work properly. We have huge failure rates in relationships due to something ugly on both sides of the gender wall. Modern females have some ideas for their mate that they grow bored with when they get it and if they don't get it instantly they are repulsed instantly. I have become raw about the manipulation I have been subjected to in my need to pair-bond as well. I don't read Maxium.
