The very rich guy who used to own Domino's Pizza has announced plans to build his own Catholic-themed holytown, in which he will own all commercial enterprises and forbid the sale of porn, birth control and who knows what else (it always confuses me when people lump porn in with birth control).
According to CNN.com, Florida governor Jeb Bush attended the groundbreaking for the town, to be called "Ave Maria," (I am not making this up), and "lauded the development as a new kind of town where faith and freedom will merge to create a community of like-minded citizens."
What's next? Sharia-villas? Perhaps Taliban-towne? Or maybe Burka-burg?
This makes me want to re-read "The Handmaid's Tale."

I'm founding and then moving to Paganville, where there will never be a Domino's Pizza.
How about right after "A Hand Maid's Tale", you go right to "A boy and his dog" by Harlan Ellison. Post apocalyptic religious nutters at their best.
Also, Dominos is pizza sacrilege. Is that really how big a "large" is? They just started selling mediums by car, and calling them large pizzas.

I must be the only one who thinks a few Christians who want to live together in the swamp with no porn and a bunch of kids (here I am back on the Mormon thing again) is no big deal? For a reference, recall the Disney town that has been down there for years and not produced one single terrorist, or been a particularly popular place. I'm just thinking the Taliban comparison is a bit much. Plus, did you people get all excited when Kim Basinger bought a town?
That's a little much! Comparing the Taliban with a Christian group who would like to raise their children in a child friendly environment, where most citizens probably will believe there is a higher power they will face someday. Not politically correct, but yes, I'm referring to God. There, I've said it.
Hey anon, is that God these people fear related to the one the Taliban believe in? As a quick reminder, they are religious nuts ALSO. That they are different religious nuts doesn't help your argument.

My apologies to Dewi for daring to mingle with all of the intellectuals that post. My befuddled brain was just trying to decipher how living in a town of like minded folks breaches the so called separation of church and state.
