way to go massachussetts!

MA is banning the nearly universal American practice of giving out infant formula-funded "gift bags" to new moms as they leave the hospital. This is a HUGE win for mothers and babies. Very exciting.

My hubby told me he'd seen this on MSNBC earlier today... I'm so happy and hope other states follow!

How wonderful! It's about time that hospitals start putting the well-being of babies and mothers above commercial interests.

Here in Portugal that is common practice as well. They also give out, amongst other things, pacifiers. And all these in hospitals that endorse and run for the "Children's Friendly Hospital" initiative.

Just read something funny on this as well - some hospitals actually charge for the "baby gift" upon leaving the hospital. Deep in the fine print, on unintelligible hospital bills - $45 for "Baby Gift."

Bad science, and they charge you for it. Only in America.
