I don't want to sell anything, buy anything, or process anything as a career. I don't want to sell anything bought or processed, or buy anything sold or processed, or process anything sold, bought, or processed, or repair anything sold, bought, or processed. You know, as a career, I don't want to do that.

Saw them in Asheville Friday night and it was amazing. And it gave me a new appreciation for that album - I wasn't all that fond of it before Friday, but hearing a lot of it live made me like the songs more. He sang Hummingbird to a 6-year-old in the audience who requested it - she was sitting on her father's shoulders - for the second half of it, he jumped down off the stage and went to where they were and sang it directly to the little girl. The look on her face as she sang along with him was absolutely priceless. It was one of the coolest moments at a rock concert I have ever witnessed.
Hey Maggie Pa - saw the concert, too, and "Hummingbird" was indeed quite an amazing moment. When they're at their best, there's not a band in the world that can touch them.

It's moments just like those that make the cost of concert tickets and fighting the hellified crowds all worthwhile.
Kind of like Michael Stipe reading "Knoxvile: Summer 1915" to the crowd at Thompson-Boling back in '96.
