Not Miles !!!

I'm into nick names, and I love the name Theo.
I would cross out William because it is very popular, and Simon and Samuel because they are Biblical. Not that I dislike Biblical names, but if you've managed to avoid them so far, might as well stick with the trend.
Oliver and Theodore are my two favorites of those left.
I looked at your list again and I like all the names. Your son will grow nicely into any of these names.They also sound nice with the last name Hickman.
Lord no, not Theodore or Simon. Those were two of the "Alvin and the Chipmunks" characters' names. It brings to mind annoying, high-pitched Christmas carol singing. Aaarrgghh!
Maybe Matthew or Andrew? Of the names you mentioned, Miles gets my vote.
I love Miles. We have friends who named their boy Myles after Myles Horton.
Miles sounds too much like Niles from "Frasier."
I like them all except Julian. I'm especially partial to William, since I have one, but there are an awful lot of Wills around these days.
I like 'em all. Simon was on our short list for both kids but since then I've heard it a lot so I'd steer clear. I've heard Oliver more and my inlaws just had a baby (Felix, brother to older sister Violet) and Oliver was their boy's name until she came to playgroup and two pregnant moms announced their boys would be Oliver.

William, instead of Will as a nickname, you could use Liam.
More purely anecdotal evidence: Oliver, Thomas, and Will are very popular for the youngest boys where I like (Mid TN).
My 18 mo-old is named Jack. After his great-grandfather, NOT the zillion other Jacks, Jacksons, Jaxsons, and Jaxons out there right now. Quadruple argh.
So my vote would be for the less popular on your list: Andy, Sam, Simon, or Ted.

You must be a glutton for punishment leaving yourself so open to insults and wacky opinions. The person who hates the names Simon and Theodore because they're cartoon chipmunks dated herself. I do not think kids know those cartoon characters anymore. Anyway, you are not having twins so no one will hear them together.
You have listed excellent strong boy names that will travel well where ever your son goes in life.
The only names I'd consider on that list are Simon, Anderson, Samuel, and Thomas.

Is Anderson a family name? I think Anderson Hickman sounds good together. And kind of fits into the flow with your older children's names, to me anyway... PS belated congratulations!

My wife and her sister are very concerned about what the initials spell out or what they could be an acronym for(other than their name). However, I have never known anyone teased for their initials.
My first two initials are B.S. and I got teased. A lot.
Sarada, you and I think alike. I like Oliver and Theodore too. I like Samuel and Simon as well, but not as much as Oliver and Theodore. And as much as I love the name Julia for a girl (a very elegant name, in my opinion) I haven't been able to warm up to Julian, even though I have known a couple.
As for teasing because of initials: our last name is Schroeder. When we were expecting our first, we were considering Aaron Scott for a name. We told Paul's grandmother. A couple months later she told us, ashen-faced, that we should think about the initials for that one! We'd already changed our minds about the name, and it wasn't a boy, anyway, but we were thanking our lucky stars that we didn't go through with that one!
Miles seems to be a popular name these days, but I just don't get it. Where does it come from? It always makes me think of driving.
Well, if Jon has spoken correctly and the true short list is Simon, Anderson, Samuel, and Thomas, then I would vote for Simon or Thomas. I think Samuel is too popular, and I think Anderson Hickman sounds like two last names. Andrew Hickman would be fine with me, though.
But it really doesn't matter what we think, because he or she is your kid, and you can look up the popularity stats on your own. :)
I don't like Miles. It's a little TOO unusual for me. I like Simon, Oliver, and especially Theodore. My second son is Theodore and he is always the only one, so it's not super-popular, yet it's familiar rather than unusual. I have a William too, but that's only because he is named after his paternal grandfather; I did not realize how popular a name that was.
But if Jon is serious about that short list, then some of this is moot!
Geez, Katie, just pick a short one so the bully will be able to spell it easier in his day planner: "Beat up Miles at 11:00"
Thomas and William (and maybe Samuel) are OK, but those are some wussy boy names, IMO.
